Search++ is a highly enhanced search system for Concrete CMS. With anything except an exact match the core search block will fail to return any results. Unlike the core search block, Search++ can handle searching for all sorts of mixed up and partially matching queries to return a list of pages ranked by relevance.

The navbar search input and all searches on this site use Search++, some with autocomplete enabled. Have a play, enter some multi-word searches that you know would be defeated by the core page search and see how they are handled by Search++. Autocomplete is optional, if you would like to experience Search++ without autocomplete, see Search Comparison.

For example, the core search would find "Magic Tabs", but would return no results (other than this page) for any of:

• ''Tab Magic"
• "Tabs Accordion JohntheFish"
•  "MT"
• "How to split a page into tabs"

Search++ handles full phrases and individual words, partial matches, stemming, synonyms, abbreviations, acronyms, multilingual locales, extended character sets for languages such as German and French with character set transliteration for multilingual searches.

Unlike the core search, Search++ conclusions are not a binary yes/no. Search++ results are built into a ranked list with the best scoring matches at the top.

In addition to the usual search query form and search results page, Search++ can be configured for a live search with autocomplete. Behind the scenes, Search++ makes extensive use of query and result caching to minimize server loading and provide fast response to queries. From the dashboard Search++ is highly configurable to tune searches to provide the best balance of search results for the content of your site.

Purchase

Whilst Search++ is already a mature search solution, there are many ways in which we would like to further develop its capabilities.

The original development was funded as a joint project by a few of my customers who chipped in to the development because they required a search solution that performed more naturally than the core search. Onward development has been funded by subsequent customers for Search++ coming on-board.

With that in mind, Search++ is not released in the concrete5 marketplace. If you would like to add similar functionality to your web site please contact me. We can discuss your requirements and I will ask you to fund some onward development in return for a license. This can be development specific to your requirements or general development.

Think of it as crowd funding with a growing room-sized crowd. Existing users of Search++ will benefit from your investment and you will in turn benefit from subsequent investments.
