Coupled Displays

Navigate Other

Coupled displays are handled by configuring the Navigate Other lightbox overlay. When an image in the selecting gallery is clicked, rather than opening a lightbox the Navigate Other plugin triggers navigation in an associated navigated gallery.

In the example above we have two Omni Gallery blocks. The selecting gallery is a Swiper display widget (below) configured to navigate a Cycle2 display widget (above).

All configuration for this coupling is handled by the Navigate Other plugin on the second Omni Gallery block, the selecting gallery.

  1. Selecting Gallery: Click on any of the small images to trigger a change in the large image in the navigated slider above.
  2. Navigated Gallery: Click on the large image to open in a Simple Modal lightbox overlay.

Autoplay is disabled on both blocks so you can see what is going on. However, autoplay is not precluded on either block.

Compatibility

Any display widget which works with a lightbox overlay can be used as the selecting gallery by configuring the Navigate Other plugin as the 'lightbox'.

For the navigated slider, display widgets which are compatible with receiving navigation from Navigate Other are listed in the documentation Lightbox Overlays > Navigate Other.

Whilst here we have two different kinds of slider right next to each other, this could just as easily be both the same slider, or a thumbnail or masonry galley as the selecting gallery triggering navigation of the slider. The selecting gallery gallery could be anywhere on the page, it does not have to be adjacent to the navigated slider.

Link Image to

In the selecting gallery or slider the field Link Image to in the Image Source needs to be configured as an image which is present in the slider being navigated.

In the above example, this is easy because both blocks use the same image source configuration.

However, that is just a convenience here. You could configure the navigated slider with a completely different set of images and then configure an Image/File attribute from each of the the images in the selecting gallery to point to the corresponding images in the navigated gallery.
